The foundation of Ceres Nanosciences is its proprietary Nanotrap® particle technology. Nanotrap® particles are hydrogel particles that can be engineered to selectively collect and concentrate a diverse range of compounds (analytes) from complex solutions, such as whole blood, serum, urine, saliva, and sweat. The real power of the Nanotrap® is its ability to simultaneously:
• Bind targeted compounds that may be present in low abundance.
• Concentrate extremely dilute analytes.
• Protect trapped analytes from degradation.
• Exclude undesired molecules that may be present in much greater abundance.
The Nanotrap® is a significant leap forward over existing sample preparation and isolation technologies. Existing technologies cannot match the ability of the particles to harvest and concentrate low-abundance analytes, while preserving the integrity of the isolated compounds.
The Nanotrap® collection process, coupled with existing clinical diagnostic platforms, will improve the efficiency, reliability, sensitivity and accuracy of a wide array of critical diagnostic processes. In so doing, it will facilitate the diagnosis of diseases, such as cancer, in their early stages, allowing doctors to use a Personalized Medicine Model to proactively treat diseases before they are detectable using conventional diagnostic processes.
