Patents

The Nanotrap® Technology – the core technology, methods of production, and general use of the technology are the primary intellectual assets owned by Ceres Nanosciences. Several patents are filed with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) and various international patent offices.  The term of the Nanotrap® utility is 20 years from the patent application's filing date.  Ceres has filed several Continuation in Part (“CIP”) applications, which build upon the primary utility application. These CIP applications cover enhancements developed after the parent Nanotrap® application was filed.

The corresponding foreign patent filings have been completed in a number of jurisdictions, including most of Europe (under the Patent Cooperation Treaty or PCT), as well as Mexico, Canada and Japan.  There are two filed provisional patent applications for the patent surrounding the Nanotrap® technology that have been filed to establish an early effective filing date claiming the priority date of an invention disclosed in earlier provisional applications by the Nanotrap® inventors.
